The challenge
Promo codes are one of the cheapest ways for a ride-hailing or chauffeur operator to win a first ride, bring back a lapsed customer or fill quiet hours. They are also one of the easiest ways to lose money quietly. A code shared for one campaign keeps working months later. A "first ride" discount gets used far more often than planned. Nobody can say which codes are live, how often each was used, or how much of last month's revenue was discounted. When codes are created by hand in a database or handed out over chat, the ops and finance teams find out what happened only at month end, if at all. Limo needed promotions to be something the admin controls and reports on, not something the team remembers.
Solution
- **One list of every coupon.** The Discounts & promotions screen lists each coupon with its code, its type, how many times it has been used against its limit, its validity window and its status. Anyone on the ops team can see which promotions are live right now. - **Fixed or percentage discounts.** Each coupon is either a fixed amount off or a percentage off, so the same screen handles a welcome offer and a one-off goodwill credit. - **Usage limits that are visible.** Usage is shown as used against the limit, so a single-use goodwill code and a campaign code with a large cap sit side by side and it is obvious when one is close to running out. - **Validity windows.** Every coupon has a start and end date, so a campaign code stops working when the campaign ends instead of living on. - **Status and edit controls.** Coupons carry a status such as Active, with Details and Edit actions, and New coupon creates the next one from the same screen. - **Redemption reporting.** A Coupon usage report link sits on the coupons screen, and the Reports page covers revenue, bookings, driver earnings, cancellations and coupon redemptions together, with Excel and CSV export. Promotions are read next to the trips and revenue they affected. - **Part of the pricing setup.** The pricing hub's zone view references coupon zone codes alongside zones and fare formulas, so promotions are configured inside the same admin that sets fares and surge.
Results
Promotions in Limo are managed as records with a type, a limit, a validity window and a status, and their redemptions are reported in the same place as revenue and trips. The ops team can answer "which codes are live and how much are they being used?" from the admin rather than from a spreadsheet.
